go fly a kite

This was our attempt at flying the kite that Grandma Becky gave Victor for his birthday. A little less than successful, but a lot of fun!

maybe if you hold on and run behind me...

down again

run a little faster, daddy!

up, up and away!

checking the kite's construction and concluding it was faulty (go ahead, blame the kite!)

this was as high as it got, but it didn't last long!

climbing

If you want to know how to climb something, have a little boy show you. They do it best.

Memorial Day

We had the most wonderful Memorial Day with our friends Dwight & Heather from Minneapolis, who were visiting in the area. We spent the day together at the lake. All of the kids got along so well together! Here they all are (except for baby Leo, but you'll see him when you get to the end!)
Victor, Amy, Clara, Rosie, Jonathan, Santiago and Wilfredo

Ollie loves to chase and pop bubbles

Dwight taking a picture of Santiago. We had 2 trikes and 3 toddlers, so we had some lessons in taking turns!

Santiago & Jonathan

Jonathan headed right for the puddles

The kids rode their bikes around and around in the skating rink--it was like a race track!

Rosie LOVED the tire swing

Rosie & Amy

We all laughed at Rosie's hair

Picking dandelions

Eeeww! Stinky!

Look, Mama! There's a flower in your hair!
Jonathan snuggled up with their nanny, Claudia
Here's baby Leo!

Graduation Day

We attended graduation on Sunday--always a special day of celebration with a tinge of sadness. We are between graduates this year, with one last year and one next year!

at the grocery store

I have always wanted a picture of Jonathan pushing this little cart at the grocery store. Now that I have my new "baby camera" (a compact Canon G9) I was able to just whip it out of my purse and get that picture!

Summer Vacation!

May 22nd was the last day of school for Victor and Amy. Ever since Katie and Amy were little, we have had a tradition of taking their picture with their teacher on the last day of school. Here is Victor with his 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Holien.

How does someone manage to look this cute after playing kickball?

I had promised Victor supper at the Dairy Queen for the last day of school, ending with banana splits--and only one spoon per banana split!
