Volleyball vs. St. John

The North Star Bearcats traveled to St. John for a closely matched volleyball game. It wasn't an easy victory, but the Bearcats came out on top in both the Varsity and Junior Varsity matches!

Time for a time-out. Check out the scoreboard...and we are not the home team!

Berry Picking

Isn't fall wonderful?? The beautiful colors just make me want to take pictures, so I took my camera along for our daily walk. Jonathan loves to get out of the stroller and pick berries, only he calls them apples! Oliver gets in on the fun, too, and I think he actually eats them!

I'd been trying unsuccessfully to get Oliver to pose for me by shouting "Sit" at him for several minutes. Jonathan must have been intimidated into cooperating on behalf of Ollie, because he sat right down and obediently looked up at me!

Sunday Afternoon at the Lake

What a wonderful way to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon with Larry and the boys--sitting at the edge of the lake watching the boys skip rocks (or in Jonathan's case just throw them in the water!) and throw sticks for Ollie to retrieve. The only real excitement was when Victor called me over to take pictures of him sitting on that big rock, and as I made my way to him, I found out just how very slippery the algae covered little rocks were! I almost went down, but my only thought was "I have to protect my camera--I don't care what happens to me!" The camera survived unscathed, and I fared almost as well, only suffering wet feet for the rest of the evening.

How to eat chip crumbs... and what to do with the empty bag afterwards!

Off to College!

There's nothing like sending your firstborn off to college to make you aware of the passing of time! Unless it's when you send your baby...thankfully, we have a long time before that happens! Anyway, Katie pioneered the way again in being the first one to leave home. She left for Mayville (ND) State University on August 17, and we followed the next day to help her get moved in to her dorm and leave her there in the good hands of Grandma Irene. She leaves a BIG hole in our household, but we are happy for her and all the new and good experiences she will have.

Katie goes in for a kiss...

and gets a neck tickle in return!

Moving in to the dorm

Katie took us on a tour of the college. This is the coffee shop
where she works--a bright & cheery place with a great
atmosphere!
